Description

The Rochlitz porphyry stone glows amber in the direct sun; the carved Gaffköpfe at the arch capitals watch from their positions as they have since 1909. Through the outer arch: the inner arch. Through the inner arch: the colonnade. Through the colonnade: the building beyond. Four frames nested in one.

Subject & location: Leipzig, Saxony, Germany. Built 1556, arcade 1906–1909.
